Where to Volunteer With Animals Las Vegas
Animal Welfare week is October 7th – October 13th! Providing animals with enrichment can dramatically increase their well-being. So, volunteering at your local shelters or sanctuaries allows you to give back to the community by spending time with animals that needed some love and attention. Here is a list of a few of the organizations of Where to Volunteer With Animals Las Vegas!
1.The Animal Foundation
The Animal Foundation, founded in 1978, is the highest volume single-site animal shelter in America. Their mission is to save all healthy and treatable animals in the Las Vegas Valley.
2. Nevada SPCA
The mission of Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) is to save homeless pets in Clark County. NSPCA provides shelter, care and finds loving new homes for dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals.
3. Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary
Over 500 rescued birds and animals call Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary home. The purpose of The Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is to assist in the preservation, protection and the study of birds and small animals.
4. Las Vegas Valley Humane Society
The Las Vegas Valley Humane Society (LVVHS) is an all–volunteer animal rescue and Advocacy organization. Their most common interest is helping save lives and making things better for abandoned, abused, neglected and lost companion animals in Clark County and beyond.
5. Hearts Alive Village
The core of Hearts Alive Village Las Vegas is the community of people who come together to help in all areas of need. Whether working with the animals, the public, or behind the scenes, volunteers improve the quality of life for the animals of Hearts Alive Village.
This is just a short list, but there are many more in our community! For example, there might even be volunteer opportunities at veterinary offices. Even if you’re only giving an hour a week at the organization, it really makes a difference to the animals and staff there! Depending on the size of the facility, each animal may not be getting the attention they need, so volunteering to spend time with them helps improve their lives, increases their chances of getting adopted, and helping to keep them socialized. So, make it a point this Animal Welfare Week to look into these volunteer opportunities!
