Thanksgiving Foods Your Dog Will Love

Wow, Thanksgiving is already around the corner! As the busiest travel time in the US, Thanksgiving is likely to be spent gathered around the dinner table with friends and family, and we all know our dogs are part of our family. So why not give them a little taste of the aromas they’ve been daydreaming about all day? With the large array of foods you’re making, you need to be sure that you’re not giving them anything that could make them sick. Here are the Thanksgiving foods your dog will love, and in moderation, are not harmful to our furry friends!

Sweet potatoes

Plain, cooked sweet potatoes are great for your dog’s digestive health because they’re high in dietary fiber. They’re also low in fat and contain vitamin B6, vitamin C, and manganese.

Green Beans

Fresh or frozen green beans are a great source of plant fiber, and will load your dog up with iron and vitamins, without loading them up with calories!

Cranberries

Fresh, cooked, or dried cranberries can help your dog’s urinary tract health and are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. They can also reduce tartar and plaque buildup, fight bacteria, and help prevent cancer!

Broccoli

Broccoli is high in fiber and vitamin C and low in fat. It is safe for dogs to eat, raw or cooked, as long as no seasonings are added.

Carrots

Carrots are low in calories and high in fiber and vitamins, and are great for keeping a dog’s eyes healthy and his vision sharp!

Pumpkin

Plain, canned pumpkin is beneficial in helping dogs with diarrhea or constipation. It helps out in balancing the moisture in the colon for better digestion since it’s loaded with fiber!

There you have it – Thanksgiving foods your dog will love! Giving them a little taste of the smells that fill the house will surely make them happy. But remember, changing your dogs diet “cold turkey” can lead to an upset stomach. So make sure that any treats you give your dogs are in moderation, so they can be comfortable and enjoy the rest of the evening snuggling up with you on the couch watching Christmas movies!
